HA8 - Task 2

Create your own user feedback survey

i myself am part of the demographic for the FNAF series so to start off my questions. i am an 18-year-old, Caucasian male. i am doing a games design course in college while also going to my part time job as a personal shopper on the weekend, i also have about £150 disposable income which i usually spend on games. my current lifestyle is an average student with some disposable income because of my part time job. i aspire to do as much as i can with a good education and a good amount of money to live freely and happily doing what i love. i live a very western culture but i do have a great interest in Japanese culture. my interests in media is anime, manga, movies and games. my spending habits go into random things from games to figures of my favourite things. i do have a huge loyalty to brands especially when it comes to the gaming industry such as i always feel the need to pre-order the collector’s edition of my favourite games.

I created a focus group interview video with people who come under the demographic for the game that i had chosen and asked multiple questions such as: age, gender, race, sexuality, Education, Annual income, Disposable income, Current/Aspriational lifestyle, Media interests, Buying habits, loyalty to brands and geodemographic. i used all of these questions to find out more about who they were and why they would be the demographic for FNAF.

I asked 10 Questions to the audience to try and figure out who actually played FNAF, questions such as there age, sex, whether they're in education, employment or training to see how much money they made, i also asked did they buy it, was it on sale or did they just watch it, i asked this to see if they thought it was worth buying and to see how much disposable income they had. i then started asking there opinions of certain things to see what kind of gamer they were and what they liked, i managed to get some valuable information by doing this.

The first person who took the survey was a young man in education who bought the game on sale and played it for less than an hour which probably shows that it wasn't his kind of game and that he only really liked to play it with friends.

The second person who took the survey was a young man in education who watched the gameplay on YouTube. this person liked the jumpscares but disliked the fact that there is no story.

The next person was a male worker who was between the age of 41-60 and watched it on YouTube. they also didn't answer any of the Qualitative questions which shows that they are a lot harder to get replies to.

The fourth person to answer gave me quite detailed answers which i am thankful for. they are another young male in education who watched it on YouTube.

The fifth person followed what  trend was going on and allowed me to know what my target audience was.

again i got someone quite similar but how they felt about the game was different to before because they only thought the game was alright and had a nonchalant kind of attitude to the series.
the next was quite similar to the last and they thought the game got gradually worse and started to get repetitive and predictable game from all this information I've started to get a understanding of the game type and audience, knowing if i were to sell one of these games i would have to sell them for cheap because its a small repetitive game to a majority male audience.
this was also a generic answer with the same feeling the other questions
The next person was a female in education who was between the age of 17-21 and watched it on YouTube. they also didn't answer any of the Qualitative questions which shows that they are a lot harder to get replies to because you have to write unlike the closed questions.
finally the last respondant gave pretty much the same view as the majority of everyone else.

i managed to get most of my answers off of my blog because it was embedded there in comparison to the link that i posted of Facebook.

overall from this information i understood that the majority of people who played this kind of game are 17-21 year old males with a lesser amount of females and a very small amount of people who are over that certain age. i also learned that the people who took the survey usually watched videos of the game on YouTube i believe this to not be because of the price but because it can be quite difficult and frustrating of a game to play and people like watching peoples reaction to the scares such as the Youtuber Markiplier who has proclaimed himself as the king of these games.

we also learned that most played it only up to about 2 hours when as seen by Markiplier (with a lot cut out) it took him probably longer since he fully completed it.
